Clarity

I stand here, on the top of this mountain, feeling the cool wind on my face, holding a sunflower in my hand. Now, looking at its bright yellow petals against the blue sky, I wonder if this flower feels as out of place as I do. The city feels small and distant. I came here seeking clarity, escaping the noise of my daily life, and I realize that the answers I seek are within me. This sunflower, resilient and radiant even far from its field, reminds me of my own strength. Perhaps, like him, I can adapt and flourish anywhere, even in the most unexpected spaces of my life.

Perhaps I am relieved to find that the water that falls on me is not salty like that which comes down from my eyes that are like the sea at least twice a week sometimes for no apparent reason and is accompanied by a lump in my throat impossible to swallow. No, this water revitalizes me instead of leaving me with chapped lips and dry skin.

I hide in the hope that by submerging myself completely my thoughts will freeze for an instant and stop tormenting me with their incessant movement but instead they decide to mimic what they touch, they are stubborn like the body they inhabit, and like water they run, escape and slip from my hands, crashing against every surface they find in their path. I am certain that if I do not drown in this icy water I will be consumed by my own ideas that are often wilder than the tide but for now none of this matters.
